These unique limited edition bokkens are made with a solid Purpleheart blade that has been sealed with a durable high gloss finish. The blades have been paired with our Raven Blade sculpted handle that has been cast in a high strength reinforced resin and finished in a regal metallic purple color with pearl and gold accents. They are also fitted with hollow cut metal guards made after the Sword Experience logo

About Purpleheart Hardwood

While it is called by many names, the name Purpleheart is quite fitting for this unique tropical hardwood species. This wood starts out as a dull gray-brown color, but when aged in the open air and sunlight, the resins react and turn the heartwood a dark rich purple. This reaction also reveals a natural luster, that leads to an excellent shine once the wood is sealed and finished.

Grain

Purpleheart has straight grain and is very dense. This makes it extremely durable and resistant to denting or breaking. These properties also grant a weight that feels good in hand and a finished texture that is smooth to the touch.

Durability

Purpleheart is comparable to many of the other well known super dense hardwoods, such as Katalox or bloodwood, in hardness, weight, and flexibility.It has a Janka Hardness score that can range from 2600 to 2900.
